The Seventh Day Baptist Historical Society was founded in 1916, after Julius Sachse, a man with a large collection of artifacts from the Ephrata Cloisters, contacted the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference asking if they would be interested in buying his collection. For his part, Sachse wanted his extensive collection of artifacts preserved by Sabbath-keepers, and so the Historical Society was formed to steward this important collection, along with other artifacts that the General Conference had been storing at Alfred University, in western New York, since the 1860's.
From that day to this, the Society continues to steward artifacts and documents pertinent to our unique heritage.
